Militairen zijn in Zuid-Mexico aangekomen om reddingswerk te verrichten. "Ze hebben grote schade geconstateerd maar misschien niet op een schaal die aanvankelijk werd gevreesd'', zei de Mexicaanse president Felipe Calderon. De gouverneur van de getroffen provincie Oaxaca, Ulises Ruiz, zei dat het noodweer nog steeds de toegang tot het getroffen gebied hindert.
