All Entrances Are Open
Materials: trailer mounted matrix screen
Once I saw a film with subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. I was overwhelmed by the way the sounds and music were represented, not only describing the things someone else would hear, but also the effects they were supposed to have on the viewer. It was poetic. I kept wondering, what if I had subtitles like this? This led to All Entrances Are Open (in Dutch: Alle ingangen zijn geopend). The text describes the first time my partner touched my upper arm and I felt my pores opening up to her finger tips. The matrix screen is made up of tiny led lights, a reference to the pores of my skin. I like the alarming look it has. I wish I was more alarmed back then.
